The Uruguayan goalkeeper for Paraguay's Club Guarani, Pablo Aurrecochea, wore a Batman logo on his shirt for Thursday night's Copa Sudamericana match against River Plate. Naturally, he kept a clean sheet.
While the rest of his teammates had the logo of telecommunications company Tigo slapped on their chests, Aurrecochea had the intimidation factor working in his favor with the old-school emblem of the Dark Knight himself.
Guarani won 2-0 and it really shouldn't come as a surprise. Aurrecochea was probably stopping shots with everything from Batarangs to grappling guns. Maybe for the second leg of the tie, River Plate will dress up one of their strikers as the Penguin and make this interesting.
Video of Aurrecochea's Bat-tastic performance right this way...
UPDATE: This apparently isn't the first time Aurrecochea has gotten creative with his kits, though. In the past, he's had Krusty the Clown...
Mickey Mouse...
Pink Panther...
And Spider-Man...
All are pretty awesome and certainly better than a lame corporate logo, but I think the Krusty kit is my favorite.
